New ‘One-Take’ Horror Movie Has Entered the Chat

We just got word from Variety that a new one-take horror film, Bury the Devil, has been picked up for distribution by Blue Finch Films. I’ve never heard of the distributor, but it’s always a good sign when a horror flick receives distribution.

If you’re unfamiliar with ‘one-take’ films, it’s pretty self-explanatory. This is when a film is done all in one take. No edits, no cuts… an extremely impressive feat when pulled off correctly. If this sounds at all familiar, you may be reminded of MadS, which seemingly came out of nowhere in late 2024 on Shudder. The zombie/virus/outbreak film rammed its way onto my top 15 of 2024 list, so I’m stoked for this one.

If you have yet to see MadS, go check it out with a Shudder free trial. Rather than attacking the genre from a zombie/outbreak/virus standpoint, it looks like Bury the Devil is going to tackle the one-take style in the form of a home invasion/exorcism film instead.

We don’t know much about the film quite yet, other than the fact that it’s slated for a late 2025 festival debut, meaning we probably won’t be able to enjoy it in a theater or in our homes until 2026.

I’ll leave you with IMDB’s synopsis to get you a little hyped: “When a hospice nurse finds herself trapped with a dementia patient, she begins to suspect something else is wrong with the woman, something otherworldly, and must fight to survive the night.”
